Jacob Van Etta.
Fort Plain, Dec. 19.—Jacob Van Etta, aged 80, died Tuesday evening a 9 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roy Ferguson, on State street in this village, of a complication of diseases. He was born in Canajoharie May 10, 1848, a son of Lewis and Mary Wiles Van Etta. He was a staunch Republican, but never sought office.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Thomas Conrad, Mrs. Lulu Morrell and Mrs. Roy Ferguson of Fort Plain; three sons, John and Alfred of Fort Plain and Hiram Syracuse; a brother, Alfred, of Fort Plain; two sisters, Mrs. Alvira Meecham of Utica and Mrs. Margaret Scott of Schenectady, and several grandchildren. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Catherine Nellis Memorial chapel, the Rev. C. R. Hamilton, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating. Interment will be in the Fort Plain cemetery.
