Roxanna Stearns, dau. of William Stearns and Lydia Davis, b. at Ashburnham, Mass. May 7, 1793 [not 1798 as often stated]. In 1821 Roxanna was appointed to the missionary family sent by the United Foreign Missionary Society of New York City to the Osage Indian Territory to develop Harmony Mission to the Osage Indians. She was to teach Osage females the art of "civilized" domestic life. She d. Oct. 17, 1875 at Henry County, MO.

On Feb. 15, 1821 at Ashburnham, Mass. [Feb. 15, 1820 per the Ashburnham record], Roxanna m. Amasa Jones, one of thirteen children of Asa Jones and Mary Martin of Rindge, NH. He was b. Apr. 18, 1796 at Rindge and d. Apr. 17, 1870 at Henry County, MO. They had two children, both b. at Harmony Mission, who are outlined in their father's memorial.
