After a life well lived C. Harry Blunt Jr., a lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, went to be with his Savior on May 26, 2010. Harry was born on July 14, 1943; a son of the former Colorado Springs Mayor, the late C. Harry Blunt Sr. and Anne E. Hoag Blunt.
Harry graduated from Palmer High School as the Student Body President, subsequently attending the University of Colorado in Boulder. He was the former owner/operator of Blunt Mortuary and was an entrepreneur, having owned and operated several small businesses in Colorado Springs.
Harry was known for his love of life, eating out and being with his family and friends. He was a past President of the Colorado Springs Jaycees and a Westside Recipient. In recent years Harry enjoyed his church Calvary Worship Center.
Additionally, he enjoyed woodcarving, hunting, fishing, cooking, reading, camping and just being outdoors.
Harry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sandy, and three children, Lisa (Jim) Wilcox Santa Barbara, California, Lori (Mark) White and Jason (Melissa) Blunt both of Colorado Springs, six grandchildren, J. P. Wilcox, Jenna Wilcox, Mitchell White, Luke White, Jake Blunt and Lucy Blunt. Harry was also preceded in death by a half brother, Frank Florey.
Memorial services will be held at Calvary Worship Center, 501 Castle Road, Colorado Springs, CO on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Park Recreation & Cultural Services for maintenance and support of Blunt Park, 1401 Recreation Way, Colorado Springs, CO 80905.
