SURRY - Wilson H. "Bill" Harris born 1927 in Welch, W.Va. of Rolfe Highway, Surry, Va., died on Thursday, March 14, 2002, from injuries received in a car accident. He served in the Merchant Marine during World War II, was captain of research vessels, oceangoing tugboats and, most recently, was a captain at the James River Ferry Service. Survivors include his wife, Shelley Harris; daughter, Connie Lipscomb; grandson, Marcus Bosch; granddaughter, Jeri Lipscomb; and two great-grandchildren. No service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Surry County SPCA.
