Lila May Alberts was born to Henry H. and Mary Rudloff Alberts at Fort Fetterman, Wyoming (birth certificate shows Orpha as that was the closest town) on March 9, 1926.

She attended schools in Orpha and Douglas and graduated from the Douglas High School. She married Alvin H. "Sonny" Burgland in June, 1944. They divorced in February, 1949 and she married George D. Tarrant on May 28, 1949 in Douglas, Wyoming at the home of her parents, Fay and Mary Alberts Harris.

They had two children: Mary Christine "Chris" and George Steven "Steve."

Lila lived in several different states (including South Dakota, North Dakota and Oklahoma) going with her husband in his line of work. She was a cat lover and enjoyed the outdoors doing lots of camping and boating.

She was killed in a pedestrian-car accident in Casper, Wyoming after leaving the evening mass at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church on December 22, 1972.

Survivors included her husband, George and son Steve of the family home in Casper; a daughter, Mrs. Tom Roy of Laramie; two brothers, Hank Alberts and Robert Harris of Douglas; and her parents, Fay and Mary Alberts Harris of Douglas.
