At her request a private family service will be announced at a later date.
Jan was born Sept 4th, 1937 in Stites, Idaho. She was a lifetime
resident of Coos County and loved living on her little 'ranch' in
Broadbent. She enjoyed gardening, walks with her mother Lucille,
visiting with family and friends, reading, sewing, taking road trips
in her van, caring for her dogs and goats, canning preserves, hunting,
camping, and general life in the country. She was affectionately
referred to as Granny by her grandchildren.
During her life Jan was employed in a variety of fields. She has
been called a bartender, a millworker, a housewife, and a nurse. She
found her nursing career the most rewarding. She worked as a nurse in
various long term care facilities in the area. She has held the titles
Nursing Instructor, Director of Nursing Services, as well as Facility
Administrator. She was a hard worker, always doing what was needed to
assure that her family had security.
Jan's family would like to apologize on her behalf to all of her
friends that she was unable to maintain contact with. Her illness
rendered her unable to communicate for the last several years.
She was preceded in death by father Johnnie S. Whobrey of Broadbent;
and former husband Gerald D. Holliday of Kennewick, Washington.
