Dora J. Rimbey, 85, of Sherman, passed away Friday, May 28, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center.

She was born in Springfield on Feb. 15, 1925, to Samuel and Ruth (Barton) Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and a brother.

Dora was a homemaker and a member of Sherman United Methodist Church. She enjoyed raising flowers, especially roses. She loved to do ceramics, cook and bake. She loved spending time with her family and especially loved watching her kids and grandkids grow up.

She is survived by her son, Bruce Rimbey (partner, Sue Eubanks) of Springfield; two daughters, Janet (husband, Joe) McLay of Sherman and Deborah (husband, Allen) Bonini of Urbandale, IA; six grandchildren, Erin (husband, Josh) Smith of Auburn, Molly McLay of Urbana, Abby Rimbey (fiance John Curran) of Troy, Melanie McLay of Harristown, Rachel Bonini of Urbandale, IA, and Michael Bonini of Urbandale, IA; two great-grandchildren, Marley Smith and Sawyer Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2010, at Vancil-Murphy Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010, with Pastor Mike Pennell officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Sherman United Methodist Church.
