Obituary:
Rockville Republican November 21 1906
George Hatfield, a well known citizen of Parke county Ind., was born May 20, 1814; departed this life Nov. 4, 1906, age 92 years, 7 months and 14 days. He was born in Butler county Ohio. His father, George Hatfield, was a native of Virginia. His mother, Rachel Bell Hatfield, was born in New Jersey. The deceased came to Parke county, Ind., when a young man and in the year of 1840 was married to Miss Nancy Glass of New Discovery, and by industry and economy they became owners of the beautiful Glass home farm. There were born to them ten children, eight of whom are living and two died in childhood. Eleven years, eight months and fifteen days since the mother departed this life; now the father is gone to join her in that great and happy throng, leaving eight children and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were ably conducted by Rev. A. H. Dooley, Nov. 6, 1906. Many friends assembled to pay the last tribute of respect. His remains were interred in the Hatfield home cemetery. His spirit returned to God who gave it to await the great day of the coming of the Lord. Truly it can be said of this aged father as the funeral text reads, "He came to his grave in a full age, like a shock of corn cometh in his season."- Job v:26. A good citizen, sociable, upright, and honest man. A kind husband, an affectionate father and friend.
