Ms. McPherson was born in Johnson County and moved to Abilene in 1917. She earned a bachelor's degree in 1930 and master's degree in 1948, both from Hardin-Simmons University. She taught school for a total of 40 years and was a teacher at Seminole, Big Lake and Abilene High School. She began Teaching English at Jefferson Junior High when it opened in 1942 and retired in 1969. she was a member of the Hendrick Medical Center Auxiliary for many years and First Baptist Church.
Survivors included several nieces and nephews, including Dr. William King of Abilene. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m today in the funeral home.
