Tip was born in Waco on Nov. 7, 1917, to Albert Anderson and Ella Catalina Anderson. He spent a number of his formative years in Loggy Bayou in northern Louisiana, where his family owned a small country store. The Great Depression forced the closure of the store, and the family returned to Texas. He completed his education and attended Baylor University, leading to a career in sales. He eventually prospered as a small business owner. While working for Cullum and Boren Sporting Goods in Dallas, he met the love of his life, Miss Frances Bailey. They married in 1942. Tip served our country in the Army Air Corps from June 1942 until September 1945. Already an amateur pilot, he learned to fly all manner of small craft, including planes modified into gliders. He received advanced training on CG-4A cargo gliders. After graduating from the program, he was asked to stay on as an instructor. He logged 1,100 glider landings before the war ended. Tip lived a full rich life. He had a strong and adventurous spirit that inspired others. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Tip was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Anderson; and son-in-law, Dwayne Needham.

Anderson; daughters, Phyllis Needham and Louise Oakerson and husband, Jim; granddaughters, Lisa Wheeler and husband, Jamie, Kendra Dabelic and husband, Jerko, and Kayce Herndon and husband, Woody; grandson, David Needham and wife, Kindra; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Sydney, Kamryn, Abigail, Anna Lea, Anderson, Rayne, Ivo and Ane; and sister, Edwina Hayes.
