DAVID LANGDON NINE
David Langdon Nine, son of Catherine and Henry Nine was born near Norwood, Lucas county, Iowa, November 2, 1871, and passed away at Chariton, November 20, 1948, at the age of 77 years and 18 days.
On December 10, 1902, he was married to Maud L. Cooper, who preceded him in death October 26, 1911. To this union four children were born, who surive him. They are two sons, Alvin C. Nine, of Des Moines; Olen O. Nine, of Stanhope, Iowa; two daughters, Leola E. Myers, of Aurora, Ill., and Elma E. Nine, of Chariton.
In addition to the children he is survived by eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister and three brothers. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, fours sisters and two brothers.
When a young man he was converted and joined the Christian church near Liberty Center. In 1920 the family moved to a farm near Norwood where they lived until 1933. During this time Mr. Nine transferred his membership to the Assembly of God church in Chariton.
Funeral services were held at the Assembly of God church in Chariton, November 23, at 2 p.m. in charge of Rev. Everett Hollingshead and Rev. John Spencer. Interment was made in the Fletcher cemetery.
Music was provided by Mrs. Edith Olson and Mrs. Eula McVey, accompanied by Mrs. Coleen Shaw. The songs were "Will the Circle Be Broken," "Home of the Soul," and "Only Trust Him," which was Mr. Nine's favorite song. Pallbearers were John Roe, Leo Roe, Mearl Goode, Charles Anderson, Winnie Haltom and Donald Haltom.
