George A. Roth, Head of Grocery Concern, Dies
Succeeded Father in Business Founded in 1848; Funeral Services Tomorrow
George Adam Roth, 70 years old, president of the Adam Roth Grocery Co., 421 South Seventh Street, died yesterday of pneumonia and Bright's disease, at the Liberty Hospital.
Mr. Roth had been president of the grocery company founded by his father in 1848 since his father's death in 1900. He entered the family business immediately after attending public school here, working his way from a minor position in the firm to the vice presidency in 1885. A year later he married Miss Mary Tillery of Columbia, MO.
Mr. Roth had long been active in civic and charitable affairs in St. Louis. He was one of the founders of the Wyman Outing Farm at Eureka, MO, where children of the tenements were sent each summer for a two weeks' vacation.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon from Westminster Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery. He is survived by his widow and daughter, Mrs. Margaretha Bryan of Dallas, TX
