BRADENTON, Fla.: Mary Svestka, age 88, of Florida passed away Sept. 12, 2004.
She was born Aug. 5, 1916, in Ogden Center, Mich., to Anthony and Katherine (Tomecek) Horak. On Nov. 28, 1935, she married Laddie Svestka at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Deerfield. Laddie preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Blissfield. Mary was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Mary loved to work in her flower garden, bake and listen to polka music.
She is survived by four sons, Joseph Svestka and his wife, Carol, of Avon, Ohio, Ronald Svestka and his wife, Sharon, of Blissfield, Gerald Svestka of Florida and Raymond Svestka and his wife, Rose, of Pitcairn, Pa.; one daughter, Ellen Gust and her husband, Robert, of Palmyra; two sisters, Frances Ayling of Adrian and Rose Beard of Blissfield; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph and Emil Horak, Frank and Louis Machan; one sister, Anna Zemcik; and one infant brother.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass for Mary will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 2004, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blissfield with Father Vincent Van Doan as celebrant.
