The funeral for Loren H Hoskins was Monday, Apr 1, 1991 at 10 a.m., at the Bateman-Carroll Funeral Home, Gresham, Ore. A Guide Rock native, he died in Friendship House Care Center, Portland, Ore., on a Tuesday last week at the age of 82 yearsLoren Henry Hoskins was born at Guide Rock May 31, 1908, the son of James and Sophia Schultz Hoskins. He was baptized in the Church of Christ, Guide Rock.Dec 26, 1928, he was united in marriage to Avis Schoonover at Mankato, Kansas. Seven children were born to this union.
He worked for Burlington Railroad for 24 years as a sections foreman. He then went to work for the Superior School District and then moved to Hastings in 1970 where he worked at the Good Samaritan Village. After he retired, he was active in the foster grandparents' program.He and his wife moved to Gresham where they lived until 1984. In 1988, they moved to Canby.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Ethel; brother, Earl; granddaughter and husband, Anita and Kevin Manion; and two great grandchildren.Survivors are his wife, Avis, Canby; children, Barbara Bright of Royal, Nebraska, Ted Hoskins of Portland, Ore., Dick Hoskins of Minden, Nebraska, Carol Whittington of Milwaukie, Ore., Mary Ellen Schneider of Canby, Ore., Don Hoskins of Albuquerque, NM and Vikki Lager of Gresham, Ore.; 29 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Committal services were in Douglass Cemetery, Troutdale, Ore.
