Birth: Jan. 22, 1756
Brunswick County
Virginia, USA
Death: Apr. 11, 1833
Bennettsville
Marlboro County
South Carolina, USA

He was born in Brunswick County, Virginia between Roanoke and Meherrin Rivers, on the 22nd day of January 1756. His date of birth is confirmed from pension application S21045 for his service in the American Revolution War. Joshua Ammons is listed on the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot Index A-002313, rank of Pvt from SC. He is buried in this Ammons Family Cemetery. There is also, a Rev War commentary marker for Joshua Ammons, in the Quick Cemetery in Marlboro County, SC. Pension papers give his death date as April 11, 1833.

It is believed that Joshua could be the seventh son of John George and Rosina Ammons, but this has not been proved by this researcher (Barbara Sams).

Elizabeth Parker, Joshua's first wife was the daughter of Moses Parker (who was also a Rev War Patriot), mother of dau Kiddy (who married Windsor Graham) and son Jesse. It is believed she is buried in this Ammons Family Cemetery also.

Frances (maiden name unknown - assumed to be Parker but not proved by this researcher), Joshua's second wife was the mother of dau Levisa, son Joshua, dau Elizabeth (referred to as Elizabeth Daniel in will), dau Frances, son James B.,and dau Celia, and dau Sarah (listed in Codicil to Will as Sarah Horton).

note: Another researcher has posted a memorial for Chrissie Ammons Graham with no proof of name. I have tried to get this memorial removed with no response from him.

The Will & Codicil of Joshua Ammons recorded Marlbobo Co, SC Wills Vol 1 Book A, pgs. 245-247, names his children.

His Rev War service is documented with National Society Daughters of the American Revolution member Barbara Pilgrim Sams 822541 through his daughter Kiddy Ammons. The lineage goes from Kiddy Ammons Graham(believed to be buried in DeKalb County, GA)through her daughter Elizabeth Graham Ozmer, her daughter Sara Caroline Ozmer McGarity, her daughter Laura McGarity Smith, her daughter Cora Mae Smith Belcher Banks, her daughter Louise Aretta Belcher Pilgrim(fag# 13336693), and her daughter Barbara Pilgrim Beard Sams. Also documented with DAR through Joshua's daughters by second wife: Levisa who married Newell Hargrove; through Elizabeth who married William E. McDaniel and several Sons of the American Revolution.
