James "Roy" Driskell

James "Roy" Driskell, age 76, of Crockett, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2000. Mr. Driskell was born April 23, 1923 in Houston County.
Mr. Driskell was a lifetime resident of Houston County. he was retired after 21 years with Turner Construction Company. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force as a Corporal. He was a beloved member of Crockett's First Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed fishing anytime, anywhere. As his great grandson said, "Papaw could catch a fish out of a dry pond. Roy loved fishing with his children, grandchildren, and Great grandchildren. The love of life was his family, home and many friends.
Survivors include wife, Bettie Jean Driskell of Crockett, sons Harold Driskell and wife Jenny of Crockett, Charles Driskell and wife Sharon of Grapeland, brother James Mike Driskell and Marie of Lovelady, sisters, Eva Freeman of Crockett, Lela Freeman of Lovelady, grandchildren David and Connie, James and Missy, Tammy and Clinton, Trampass and Jenny, and 8 great-grandchildren. His parents, Richard and Emma Driskell, sisters Bulla Durdin and granddaughters Myrna Lynn Scott,and Pamela Rae Driskell preceded him in death.
Funeral services for Mr. Driskell were held Saturday, April 22, at 11 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Ottis Byers officiating. Interment followed in Evergreen Memorial Park]
