Our sweet mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Isabelle Goodsell Hansen, in her 100th year, slipped quietly from this life to join her sweetheart, Walt, and others who await her On Tuesday, February 5, 2007.
She married Walter A. Hansen, her childhood sweetheart, on the 14th of August 1926 in Logan, Utah. In 1941 the marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Temple. After being married for almost 71 years, Walt passed away on May 21, 1997. They were the parents of eight children, Four died shortly after birth. They are survived by 2 sons and two daughters, Barbara (Tom) Osborne, W. V. C., Nancy Jean (Don) Dickson, Moapa, Nevada, Brent Hansen (Kris), Fruit Heights and Russell Hansen (Shirley), Ogden. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, and 45 great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Jean Sycamore, Brigham City. She was preceded by parents, three sisters, one brother, 4 children and a great grandson.
She was born in Logan, Utah on the 16th of November 1907, daughter of Jeanne McNeil and Wm. Henry Goodsell. She graduated from Logan High School and lived in Logan until moving to Ogden in 1928 where she made her home for the rest of her married life. Mother was a woman who knew many hardships and trials throughout her life but was a survivor. She was an example of great faith and endurance and overcame many obstacles throughout her life. Her small stature belied her fierce independence and courage.
She was an active member of the LDS Church her entire life, living in the Orchard Park Ward for over 60 years and had a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and strove to serve him and lead her family by her example of service and faith. She served in all organizations in the ward and stake. She and Walt served as ward and stake dance directors for many years. They were also avid square dancers for many years and belonged to several square dance clubs in the Ogden area.
Mom designed and sewed all her family's clothing and worked for many years as a professional seamstress. She was a loving friend and neighbor and could always be found taking fresh home-made bread or pies to some neighbor or ward member.
Her greatest pleasures in life were her husband and family, caring for her home and her church activities and her animals.
In 1996 as their health declined, they moved to W.V.C. to live with a daughter where she continued to live for many years after Walt's death. We will miss her but it is with joy that we see her come to the end of her journey here and know she is with her loved ones that have waited so long for her. Goodbye, Mom, for a while.
The family wishes to express gratitude for the tender and loving care she received at Hazen's care center the last three years of her life.
Funeral services were held at Lindquist's Mortuary in Ogden on Saturday, February 10, 2007 and burial was in Lindquists Washington Heights Cemetery.
