Mrs. Vandruff, one of the first settlers of this country, died at the residence of her son in Kansas, Wednesday afternoon, April 5, 1875. The remains were brought to Rock Island by her son, and buried on Big Island at the request of the deceased in her last hours. Her husband, Joshua Vandruff, established the first ferry over Rock River, in 1828, and departed this life some fifteen years since.

Elizabeth was born December 20, 1792 and passed on April 4, 1875. Rock Island County Court Records indicate that she and Joshua were divorced in June 1849.
