Dies on Monday;
Former Resident
Mrs. Wava Lindley Philo, 60, former resident now of Cedar Vale, died at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita where she had been a patient since July 28.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Potts Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. E. M. Pearson of the First Baptist Church of Cedar Vale officiating. Burial will be in Harrisonville Cemetery southwest of Independence under the direction of the Potts Funeral Home.
Mrs. Phlo was born Feb. 2, 1905 at Bolton, the daughter of Scott and Mildred (Parkhurst) Lindley. She was married to William T. Philo Feb. 8, 1922 in Havana. He survives at the home.
Mr. and Mrs. Philo made their home in Wayside two years before moving through the oil fields of Kansas and Oklahoma. They moved to Cedar Vale in 1957, making their home there since.
She was a member of the Baptist Church, Farm Bureau, Rebekah Lodge, and the Tops Club in Cedar Vale.
Other survivors are: two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Slifer of Florence, Kan., and Mrs. Mildred Edmonds of Wichita; four sons, Denzel Philo of Casper, Wyo., Bill Philo of Independence, Claude Philo of Midland Tex., and Carl Philo of Herndon, Kan.; one sister, Mrs. Osa Chaffin of Yates Center; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 449 North St. Francis, Wichita.
