6 March 1922: Newton P. Hartzell, of Bethel Township, near Mt. Zion, who was injured on Saturday a week ago, when his horses ran away, died on Saturday at his home from the effects of a fractured skull. Although the man was unconscious when he was taken home after the accident, he seemed much improved on Tuesday when he seemed entirely conscious. He also had a lucid spell on Thursday. Thereafter he sank rapidly however, and the end came on Saturday evening. Mr. Hartzell spent his entire life on the farm, and he was widely known and highly respected. Besides his wife, nee Agnes Koons, he leaves seven children: Verna, Wilson, Martha, Florence and Jacob at home, and Frederick, of Fredonia, Pa., and Albert of Ames, Iowa. Two brothers, Charles and Frank Hartzell, reside at Philadelphia; and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Lobach and Mrs. Ida Melchoir, reside at Easton. The deceased was 64 years of age, and was a member of Kimmerling's Reformed Church. The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon.
