Chalmers was the son of John Calvin and Allie Jane (Hodge) Wyatt. He married Maie L. Hartman in 1912 and they had six children: Julie Lorene, Cora Lee, Freeda Brown, Hayden Grant, Doyt Calvin and Harry Ray.
