In memory of Keturah Baird Branning- The death of Mrs Keturah Baird Branning occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs Frank Wright of Honesdale, Sunday morning April 3rd. The cause of death was old age and general debility, she being of feeble health for the past few months. Mrs Branning was the daughter of Parks and Sarah Young Baird and was born near Narrowsburg N.Y. May 22 1835, she was united in marriage to Jacob Branning Jr of Inglehart, who preceded her in death 42 years. To this union were born eight children, five still surviving, they being Hattie, wife of Frank Wright of Honesdale; Jennie, wife of Wm Mott, White Mills; Chester of Denhoff N.D.; Emery of Hancock N.Y. and Delbert of Scranton. The greatest part of the deceased's life was spent in Wayne County. Last June she came to White Mills from Hawley and was cared for by her daughter, Mrs Wm Mott, until about three weeks ago when she went to Honesdale to another daughter's where she died.
The funeral was held from Christ Church, Indian Orchard at two o'clock Tuesday; April 5, with Rev. G N Underwood officiating; burial in Indian Orchard cemetery. The pall
bearers were relatives of the deceased, Delbert and Emery Branning, Wm Mott, Amos Baird, Leo Tarkett and Charles Miller. Many friends and relatives from Narrowsburg, Atco, Inglehart and White Mills were in attendance to pay their respects to the departed.
Mrs Branning was buried on the 136th anniversary of her grandmother's birth, she being Sarah Lassley Baird. It was also the 6th anniversary of her youngest daughter's death; Miss Jessie Branning, which occurred in New York, April 5, 1915.
