Gertrude Hedge Pemberton, 84, of Iberia died Thursday (14 Dec 1989) at her home. She was born Nov. 1, 1905, in Iberia, the daughter of William and Georgia Wade Hedge. She was married Aug. 8, 1928, in St. Louis, to Hilary Pemberton who survives at the home.

She attended the Iberia Public Schools and the Iberia Academy, as well as Southwest Missouri State University. She was a member of the Iberia First Baptist Church.

She was employed as a teller and assistant cashier in Iberia for 15 years and was a secretary for the Iberia School Board and superintendent for 12 years before retiring in 1969.

Survivors include: one son, William P. Pemberton, Houston; two daughters, Cindy Sue Powell, Springfield and Elizabeth Ellington, Columbia; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Iberia with the Rev. Haskell Orrick officiating. Burial will be in the Iberia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home in Iberia.
