It is believed that James B. Underwood, s/o Thomas & Elizabeth (Johnson) Underwood was born in Missouri. The family moved back to Sevier County, Tn. and James (my gg-grandfather, married Martha Jane McClary (McCleary). James & Martha Jane were parents of Malinda Payne Underwood Hancock, who lived to be 100 years of age. They were divorced.
James married Julia Emeline (Pollard) Hickman and is buried beside her. There are no dates on James' stone but family history gives the dates posted above.
