The Daughter of Elijah and Sarah Graham
Wife of John "Jack" McGarrah
Elizabeth Herndon, Sarah Dunn Jones, Cynthia Ann Herndon, Jane C McGarrah, Eliza Jane Foote, Randolph M McGarrah, Seborn Graham Sneed "SGS" McGarrah, James Conway McGarrah and Mary Margaret Stiff.
Polly McGarrah is buried in an unmarked Grave in McLarry Cemetery with her family.
John (Jack)McGarrah came to the area of Buckner, Texas, in 1842. He and his party returned to Arkansas and the next year the McGarrah Families returned.
After Texas became an independent republic one had to apply for a license to establish a settlement. This time the license was granted by the Texas government. Following these laws, the Fort Buckner settlement was established in this area in 1843, two years before the great and glorious Republic of Texas entered the union.
McGarrah opened a trading post to barter for hides and furs. When the Texas Legislature created Collin County on April 3, 1846, directing that its county seat, to be named "Buckner", be created no more than 3 miles from the geographic center, Buckner town site was soon laid off in McGarrah's settlement.
Early maps indicate Fort Buckner.
