Sarah was born to John Henry Michael and Anna Maria Ilgenfritz in York, PA. She married Edward Lee in 1817 and had 9 children (6 sons and 3 daughters). Five of the sons fought in the Civil War, with one of them (Vincent Lee) being killed at the Battle of Bentonville, NC. Sarah died at the age of 63 and is buried with her husband and several children in the Slate Ridge Cemetery, Peach Bottom, PA.
