Funeral services for Mr. Blackwell, age 91, were held at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel with his son, the Rev. Rick Blackwell and the Rev. Kendell Martin officiating.

Mr. Blackwell, passed away at his home in Wayne.

Born the second of four children and the only son of Tom and Emma Rosena (Anneler) Blackwell, he was raised in McClain Co., attended Hopping Schools and graduated from Rosedale High School in 1937. He attended Oklahoma A&M, for a time but returned home to his true love, Geneva.

He married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, a young woman named Geneva Wahoma Yoakum in September of 1941. They made their home in Purcell for a short time before moving to OKC.

While in the city, Troy began working at Wilson's and later for the Defense Industry at Tinker during World War II.

Troy and Geneva returned back to the Blackwell farm place near Wayne to raise their family of 1 daughter and 3 sons. While farming, he began a career with the Oklahoma Highway Department. Troy retired as an Inspector after more than 25 years of dedicated service. It was said, "Troy loved building roads and he loved driving on them."

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Vondell Puckett and Lucille Carver Brady.

Survivors include: his wife of 69 years, Geneva; his daughter, Carolyn Lester; three sons, Alan, Rick and Bobby Blackwell; his sister, Betty Cotten; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were his grandsons.
