Martha "Mattie" Ann Hoffman married David Jacob "Jake" Oakes (28 Sep 1859 - 29 Sep 1947) after his first wife's death. Keith Lingenfelter in Tehama Co. Pioneers cites three marriages for Martha, 1st to Charles Robert Henderson, 2nd to Henry Joannes Peterson,and lastly to David Jacob Oakes. Grave markers for Henry Peterson and David Jacob Oakes have not been located.

MRS. MARTHA O_____, PIONEER RESIDENT PASSES SATURDAY
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Paskenta cemetery for Mrs. Martha N. Oaks, 85, widely known resident of Tehama county who died Saturday morning at a Red Bluff hospital following a short illness.
Mrs. Oaks was a member of a pioneer family which came to California from Ohio in 1866. Crossing the plains in a covered wagon when she was six years of age, Mrs. Oaks settled with her family about six miles east of Paskenta and has resided in that vicinity for nearly 80 years.
Surviving relatives are her husband, R. [sic] J. Oaks, two sons, Bruce Henderson, Covalo, and Dan Henderson, Paskenta; one brother, Joe Botkin, Paskenta; 12 grand children, and 19 great-grandchildren. A son, Arthur Henderson, passed away several years ago.
Interment will be in the Paskenta cemetery under the direction of the Corning Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Paskenta cemetery for Mrs. Martha N. [A.] Oaks, 85, pioneer Tehama county resident, who died in a Red Bluff hospital Saturday following a heart attack.
Mrs. Oaks was a member of a pioneer family which came to California in 1866 from Ohio. Crossing the plains in a covered wagon, when she was 6 years old, Mrs. Oaks settled with her family about six miles east of Paskenta and has resided in that vicinity for nearly 80 years, taking part in the life of the older settlers and younger livestock and grain farmers.
