Mary mostly grew up in Illinois. She was probably about ten years old when her family moved to Louisiana.
Mary was young enough to adapt to the different lifestyle in Louisiana if her sister had not spent years talking about Illinois. (Louisiana was not as modern as Illinois in the late 1800's.)
So, when Mary was age 16, she married Thomas Campton and moved back to Illinois where she and her husband had several kids.

They ended up living in Shelby County Illinois.
When Marys brother in Marshall Illinois died in about 1940, Mary was mentioned in his obit.
Mary and Thomas Compton stayed married until they died...
