Born 1816, Margaretha Barbara Jaeger was the daughter of Georg Jacob and Margaretha Schlamp Jaeger. Margaret's father, Georg Jacob Jaeger, a furniture maker, was born in 1776 in Weingarten, Germany. He married Margaretha Schlamp (born March 5,1787 and died October 27, 1864 in Weingarten) on March 17, 1814. Margaretha Schlamp was the daughter of Georg Jacob, a weaver (born 1741 in Plankstadt, near Heidelberg, Germany - died at seventy years of age) and Maria Catherine Keller Schlamp. George Jacob Jaeger died October 15, 1816 - just two months before the birth of his third daughter, Margaret (Keller).
On January 14, 1840 in Weingarten, Margaret Jaeger married her second cousin, Johan Georg Keller. After immigrating to America in 1848, the family landed in New York City. The Kellers finally settled on their homestead farm in Harper, Iowa about 1856. They became the parents of Katherine Salome (Passig), Frank Henry, George Jacob, Christian, Elizabeth (Huxsol), Louisa (Walker), Margaret (Munz), John Henry, Johan Edward and John Charles Keller.
Margaret moved to Nebraska from the family farm in Iowa to live with her daughter, Louisa after Johan's death. Margaretha Barbara Jaeger Keller died March 20, 1897 after suffering a lingering illness. It is to her and her excellent memory that the family owe the treasure of the family history of years gone by, no written record having been kept before her.
