MAY DIESS

LORANE - May Diess of Lorane died Feb. 20 of age-related causes. She was 88.

She was born May 27, 1911, in Portland to Charles and Rose Streiff Schaffer. She married Edward Lincoln Diess in Eugene on June 8, 1937.

She attended the University of Oregon for two years. She was active in the family's farming and logging operations. Diess enjoyed homemaking, including cooking, gardening, food preservation, sewing and quilting. She was an active member of the Lorane Grange for more than 50 years.

Survivors include her husband, Lincoln; two sons, Frank of Eugene and Floyd of Salem; two brothers, Harvey Schaffer of Harrisburg and Larry Schaffer of Sweet Home; a sister, Mildred Pajunen of Lake Oswego; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Private entombment will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lorane Grange or the Lorane Fire Department.
