Mrs. Catharina Muhs, one of Scott county's oldest settlers, passed away at the home of her son, Julius Muhs, two miles west and one-half mile south of Eldridge, Iowa Tuesday noon, after a lingering illness.
Deceased was born in Schoenberg-Probstei, Germany, March 5, 1832, and came to Scott county in her early teens. A few years later, in 1852, she was united in marriage to Jochim Muhs, the couple settling on a farm near Eldridge where they made their home till her husband passed away in 1900.
Since then she has been making her home with her children.
The survivors are seven children, Adolph, Mrs. F. Sueverkruebie, Mrs., J. Marti, Henry, Louis, William and Julius, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Emil Muhs.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of her son, Julius, two miles west and one-half mile south of Eldridge. Burial will be made in Pine Hill cemetery.
