COWDEN - Delmar "Jake" Sloan, 84, of Bentonville, Ark., passed away 3 a.m. Wednesday (June 25, 2003) in Northwester Medical Center, Bentonville.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Lockart and Sons Funeral Home, Beecher City. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Hubbartt Cemetery, Beecher City. Memorials: American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Sloan was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Cowden, the son of William and Mary Magdaline Schneiter Sloan. He formerly was employed by the Beecher City School District as a custodian and bus driver. He was baptized at and a member of Methodist church. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Bernadine Allsop on Aug. 1, 1964, in Beecher City.
Surviving are her daughters, Sue Knapp and husband Edward and Sharon Phillips and husband Wayne, all of Bentonville; sister, Flossie Baker of Assumption; grandchildren, Ron Knapp of Seattle, Wash.; Sherri Morgal of Pineville, Mo.; Terri Reese of Bentonville; Tom Phillips of Rogers, Ark.; 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.
