Birth: Jan. 26, 1864, Sweden
Death: Oct. 3, 1913
Utah, USA

Louisa Katrina Danielson was born January 26, 1864 in Bjorklinge, Uppsala, Sweden. Later in America she was known as Louisa Catherine Danielson. She was born to Peter and Mary Erickson Danielson the fifth of eight children.

Louisa's famiy joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and left Sweden for America in 1872. Louisa was eight years old at the time. Two older brothers and one sister died in Sweden before the family immigrated.

The Danielsons settled in Huntsville, Utah and Louisa attended school in the old rock school house. She married Joseph Samuel Allen on December 19, 1884. Their first child, Johnny, died at birth. Their second son, Samuel Archie, died at the age of 6 months. Seven other children were born to the couple--Ethel Louisa, Mary Chastina, Alanson David, Merrill Daniel, Emmie Leona, Edger and Leo.

Louisa was a beautiful seamstress, doing all the family sewing. She had a sewing machine and sewed for others including her mother-in-law, bonnetts and "wrappers" (housedresses).

Louisa was a very easy going person and seemed to get along with everyone. She was a hard worker and carried a lot of the responsibility of raising the family alone. During the summers the family would all go to the homestead in the canyon where Sam worked. In the winters she would bring the children back to town so they could go to school while her husband stayed at the homestead.

Louisa's health wasn't the best. Her daughter Ethel says her mother was sick for about 12 years before she died. Her son Edger remembers that his mother didn't go to the homestead the summer of 1913 because she wasn't well. In the fall of that year she took quite sick and was in bed only a couple of days before she passed away. She died of pneumonia on October 3, 1913 in the family home and was buried in the Huntsville Cemetery on October 6, 1913.
