Daughter of Bennett and Zilpha Ingalls Bradley.
First married to Andrew Cavender and they had William Cavender and Emma Zelpha Cavender Jackson.
Andrew died in 1851 and Mary married Essex Palmer Smith on Nov. 1, 1855 in Whiteside Co. IL.
They had two children, George L. Smith and Lilly Smith Reeves.
"Dufur (Wasco Co. Oregon) Dispatch Jan, 28, 1926"
"Mrs. Mary C. Smith, mother of George L. Smith, who lives on the old Wright place south of Dufur, died at her son's home, Saturday night, Jan. 23rd.
Mrs. Smith was in her 95th year at the time of her death and had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for more than four score years.
Funeral services were held at The Dalles, Monday followed by interment in the I.O.O.F. cemetery."
Also from The Dalles (Oregon) paper 1-28-1926:
"Smith funeral today - Mrs. Mary C. Smith, 95 years old and believed to have held the longest membership in the Methodist church, died at the home of her son George L. Smith at Dufur, Saturday night. Burial was from the Zell funeral home here today. Rev. E.F. Wriggle performed the ceremony followed by internment in the Odd Fellows cemetery. But one son, George survives.
There are 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren living. Mrs. Smith held membership in the Methodist church for 83 years, having been taken into the church at the age of eleven."
