STEWART, JOHN LARRY age 62, Powell, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 in his home following a long illness. Larry was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on April 1, 1947. He served in the army from 1966 to 1969. He has been a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church in Powell for the past 20 years and has served as greeter, usher and bus driver. He was preceded in death by father and mother, John Chitwood and Billie Sherrill, and brother Jimmy Lee Stewart.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; Son, Gary Taft and wife, Michelle, grandson, Riley and granddaughter, Ashley; son, Brian Taft and wife, Charlcie and grandson Ethan; son, Jeremy Stewart and wife, Jessica and granddaughter, Bailey; daughter, Amy Sizemore. Father and mother in law, James and Inez Lord. Also, surviving were many nieces, nephews and other family members. Surviving siblings, Judy Hickman and husband, David; Gayle Cross and husband, Darrell; Sherry Hurst and husband, Ronnie; Danny Stewart; Anita Smith and husband, Roy.
Funeral service Friday, 8:00 pm, Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Clarence Sexton and Roger Hilliard officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am, Saturday in Cades Cove Memorial Baptist Cemetery in Maryville for graveside services at 11:00 am.
