In 1870 the family resided in Cicero Township of Tipton County, IN near the GILES family. In 1880 he had moved to Sugar Creek Township of Clinton County. He was a Baptist circuit rider according to family tradition. The 1870 Census for Tipton County, IN lists him as a Baptist minister.
