Mrs. Phillips was the widow of Porter Phillips, who died in 1920.
She was born in Richhill Township, September 16, 1848, a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. George Loar. Her father was a Methodist Protestant minister and was known in many sections of the county. Mrs. Phillips resided in Waynesburg for 15 years, and following the death of her husband made her home with her daughter in Mannington, W. Va. She was a member of the Methodist Protestant Church.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. J. A. (Ida Dell) Jackson, Mannington, W. Va.; Harvey Phillips, Carmichaels; William Phillips, Washington; George A. Phillips, Waynesburg, and John Phillips, Hundred, W. Va. Three sisters also survive. They are: Mrs. Thomas Smith, Carmichaels; Mrs. Martha Grimes, Waynesburg, R. D., and Mrs. Jane Meek. Waynesburg.
