The last known correspondence in *Abraham Wellman's own hand stated that he was bound for sea. According to his sons Captain Jacob Wellman and Reverend James Wellman, he signed on with General Pepperill, for the expedition to Nova Scotia as a mechanic and was never heard from again. His sons always stated throughout their lives that he died in the French war during the seige of Louisburg sometime after June of 1745, most likely after Oct 26, 1745. The last document containing mention of Abraham Wellman of Lynn was a court document from 26 Oct. 1745 His name does not appear on the tax lists of Lynn End after 1745. Among his papers was found an advertisement for men to go to Louisburg in 1745.
