William Maxton Peele, Sr., 57, of Hatteras, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1976, in the Albemarle Hospital following an illness of two months. He was a native and lifelong resident of Hatteras. He was a commercial fisherman and for the past two years had been employed as manager of the Co-Op Sea and Sound Fish Co. He was a member of the Hatteras VFW, an Army veteran of WWII.
He was the son of Mrs. Beatrice Austin Peele of Hatteras and the late Leo Peele.
Besides his mother he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Juanita Fulcher Peele; two sons: William Maxton Peele, Jr. of Hatteras and Michael Oden Peele of Fort Benning, GA; two daughters: Mrs. Patricia P. Goodman and Miss Sharon Peele, both of Hatteran; three sisters: Mrs. Beatrice Barnette of Frisco, Mrs. Lovie Leatherwood of LaVerne Park, MD, and Mrs. Elise P. Dixon of Buxton; two brothers: Lee and Nacie Peele, both of Hatteras; and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Hatteras United Methodist Church by the Rev. Herman Soderburg, pastor. Burial followed in the Peele Family Cemetery in Hatteras.
