Winifred was the daughter of Anna Smith (Allen) and the very honorable Captain E.A. Allen. Winifred was born in New York and raised in Portland, Michigan where she graduated from Portland High School.
Miss Allen married Augustus V. Bell, her sister, Gertrude married his brother, Dr. William "Bill" Bell.
"A.V.:", as he was called, and Winifred "Winnie", were the parents of two children, daughter Winifred was born in April 1891 in Portland, Michigan. Their son Allen B. Bell was born Aug 2. 1899.
A.V. was the son of Jane E. Rowen and George Hazzard Bell. He was born April 2, 1859 in Pleasant, Knox, Ohio. A.V. was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution through his ancestor on his mother's side, Justus Blanchard.
The Ionia Standard, Friday, October 26, 1906 "County Treasurer Capt. E. M. Allen of Portland is in receipt of a telegram from Seattle, Wash., announcing the death of his eldest daughter, Mrs. Winifred Bell. She was aged 41 years, and passed away in hospital following an operation".
Winnie died on October 20, 1906 at St. Luke's Hospital.
