Richard Thomas Griskiewicz, 84, of Wales Township and formerly of Mt. Clemens, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 6, 2010, at home with his loving family.

He was born Thursday, January 21, 1926, in Utica, Michigan, the son of the late Ben and Stella (Waszak) Griskiewicz.

His marriage to Mary Gryspeerd was on Friday, May 24, 1946, in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, in Utica, Michigan.

Richard served his country with the United States Army during WWII from 1945 to 1946.

He was a former brick mason for Howard Tucker and built "rhubarb houses" for local farmers in Macomb County. Richard was a well-respected produce farmer and greenhouse grower since 1946 and owned and operated The Griskie Farms.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary, of 63 years are a Son and Daughter-in-law, Thomas and Barbara of Wales, daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Gerald Papiernik of Macomb Twp.; Granddaughters, Laura (Thomas "Tut") and Mary Beth; Great-grandchildren, Jessica Richard and Ethan Rzanca all of Wales; Sister, Jenny (the late Al) Hessell of Shelby Twp. and several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by brother, Alex Griskiewicz. and sister, Lorraine Esper.

His family honors the memory of Richard and invites you to visit and share memories Saturday 5:00 to 8:00 p.m & Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with rosary devotion at 7:00 p.m.

Rite of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish Catholic Church, Memphis with 9:30 a.m. visiting. Fr. Janusz Marczinski, associate pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Phillip Neri Cemetery, Columbus Twp.

Memorials are suggested to "Wishes of the Family."
