Catherine Jane (McNutt) Munger was seventh child of Major Robert McNutt, (b. 1 May 1795 supposedly in Tenn., d. 31 Aug. 1853 in Hutto, Texas) and married on 18 Feb. 1818 in Columbia, Maurey County, Tenn. to Mary (Polly) Jackson (b. 6 Oct. 1796 in Bedford County, Tenn. & d. 28 Dec 1862) Both are buried in a family cemetery(McNutt-Allen Cemetery) Hutto, Williamson County, Texas.
Catherine Jane's father, Robert McNutt, was one of the first to enlist, after the news of Santa Anna, had under his seige, the Texas Alamo. His name is listed on the San Jacinto Monument at the State Park near Houston. He enlisted Mar 1, 1836 and elected Captain, serving that office upto Apr 8th then elected to Major of first Regiment. He was discharged May 30, 1836. He also was in the War of 1812.
Catherine Jane's mother, Mary (Polly) Jackson McNutt was the daughter of Brice and Elizabeth Jackson.
Her siblings were: Eliza b. 1819, Martha b. 1826, Nancy b. 1828, Robert Brice b. 1826, John W. b. 1828, Unknown son b. 1834, Mary E. b. 1836, Tabitha T. b. 1835 and J. Hamilton b. 1838.
