Ralph L. Bynum, 81, of Clarksville died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Atkins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was a native of Clarksville, son of the late James Isaac and Anna Belle Ray Bynum, Navy veteran of World War II, member of Stillwell Bible Baptist Church, former owner and operator of Diamond Drive Inn for several years, and was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Violet Ruth Elkins Bynum.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and David Lasater of Clarksville; one son, Ron Bynum of Albuquerque, N. M.; two sisters, Leola Hilton and Anna Marie England, both of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Adrian Lasater of Clarksville, Holly Freeman of Russellville, and Mindy Lasater of Pocatello, Idaho; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter and Addie Lasater of Clarksville and Brayden Freeman of Russellville.

Funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at Hardwicke Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Goodman officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Dondi Elkins, Jeff Resimont, Steve Askins, Matt Meeker, Autry Meeker and John Askins.
Honorary pallbearers were Herman Lewis, L. J. Simms, Virgil Luke, Wendell Lee, Doy Russell, and Cecil Clark.
