United States Supreme Court Chief Justice, New York Governor, Presidential Cabinet Secretary. He served as Chief Justice of the United States from 1930 to 1941. He had a long political career before his Chief Justice tenure, serving as Governor from New York from 1907 to 1910, as an United States Supreme Court Associate Justice from 1910 to 1916, and as the United States Secretary of State from 1921 to 1925. He ran for United States President in 1916, losing to Woodrow Wilson.
