Dan Wheeler, age 91, of Paintsville, died November 7, 1974, at his home.
He was born November 28, 1882 in Johnson County and at the time of his passing was a resident of Paintsville. He was the son of the late Samuel G. and Mariah VanHorne Wheeler. He was married to Beulah E. Patrick, who preceded him in death in 1927.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth W. Wheeler of Paintsville and two daughters, Mrs.Frank (Alice Jeanette) Kratz of Chattanooga, TN and Mrs.James E.(Betty Deane) Rawlings of St. Louis, MO; two grandsons, David A. Rawlings and Dan W. Rawlings of St. Louis, MO.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church, past vice president and general manager of Paintsville Grocery Co and Director Emeritus First National Bank. He was past master of Paintsville Masonic Lodge No.381 F&AM He was a member of Chapter 131 R.A.M., Commandery Knights Templar,El Hasa Shrine and Indra Consistory of Covington,KY. He was a member of Paintsville Rotary Club and a Kentucky Colonel.

Funeral services held Saturday in the Chapel of Jones-Preston Funeral Home by Dr.W.A.E. Johnson and Rev.Albert Smith and burial followed in the Mayo Cemetery at Paintsville.Pallbearers were M.T. Hannah, Joe Hackworth, Earl Haney, Red Castle, Arthur Castle, Orta Adams, Arthur Ealey, Bernie Whitt, Mitchell Price, James T. Newman, Jack Hager, Tommy Roberts and Earl Gillespie.
