Final Rites for Mrs. George Hummel, 63 year old well-known Hot Springs pioneer, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Benson & Joyce funeral chapel, with Rev. John Philley pastor at St. Lukes Episcopal church in charge.

Pallbearers were William S. Gray, E.R. Philips, William T. Richer, Robert Weber, B.J. Glattly and W.P. Rooney.

Mrs Harold Wilson sang "Lead Kindly Light" accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Wesley Haines. A poem written by Mrs. Amelia Ottman, mother of Mrs. Hummel's son-in-law, Carl Ottman, was read.

Ida Lulu Cable was born in Freeport, Ill., Dec. 24, 1875. She moved to Fairmont, Nebr. in 1887, coming from Fairmont to Hot Springs in 1893.

She was united in marriage to George Hummel, local pioneer resident, August 29, 1896 in a double ceremony with Clara Hummel and Charles Richards. The ceremony was performed by an uncle of George and Clara Hummel, the Rev. George W. Hummel.

The last years of her life she and her husband fed and looked after a varying group of young Hot Springs working people at their home on Eighth street. She died suddenly last Saturday at her home.

Besides her widower, George Hummel, there are four children, Mrs. Carl Ottman, Harold Hummel, Eugene Hummel and Mrs. William Rooney Jr., and five grandchildern, Carl W. Ottman, Francis Hummel, Carrol Hummel, David Hummel and Mary Patricia Rooney surviving her.

From out-of-town to attend the funeral sevices were Mrs. Hummel's sister Anna Dalby of Bayard, Nebr., and her brother Theodore Cable, and Mrs Cable of Rapid City.
