Birth: Sep. 28, 1919
Death: May 26, 2001

Flynn Chandler was the firstborn to Alma Lee Sims Chandler and Mack F. Chandler Sr. He was soon joined by a brother, Alvin "Benson" Chandler. Flynn married his high school sweetheart on 9/1/39. During WWII, Flynn served as a photoengraver in the Pacific, first on Oahu, then Guam, and last in Japan. He was released from the Army on George Washington's birthday, a day he celebrated many many years. He was very homesick in the service, but fortunate to be in a noncombat unit. After the war, he went to work. In 1948, he and Frances celebrated the birth of a daughter, a child they had long hoped for. They named her Sandra Lee. In 1954, she was joined by another child, Carole Diane. Carole developed rheumatic fever when she was five. When she was nine, she went with a friend to a shopping center where she was thrown from an Octopus Ride and killed. This was a very traumatic experience for the entire family. Flynn worked for the Atlanta Newspapers as a photoengraver for many years. He retired from them when he was about 65. Frances and Flynn spent many happy retired years together in their home in Newnan,Georgia with a swimming pool. Flynn swam most every day in the summer time. He loved children and he was happiest acting as handy man to anyone who needed his help. He built grandfather clocks and many other wooden items. He played a harmonica well. He was always active fixing something around the home. He did not like spending money and would irritate family by ordering a hot dog (the least expensive item on most menus) whenever he could. He loved Frances more than anything and enjoyed seeing her go shopping and do other things that made her happy. He loved his family and did not want to leave them. He was a forgiving loving person who was liked by almost everyone.
