Obituary Blair Democrat on 20 April 1911:
"ANOTHER PIONEER CALLED. -- Henry Niederhoefer, for forty years a prominent farmer of Washington county, died at his home last Friday morning on the west edge of the county. In November, Mr. Niederhoefer was stricken with stomach trouble. About two months ago, he went to the Fremont hospital and was there for several weeks. When it became known to him that his ailment would be fatal he asked that he be taken home again. He was taken home about a month ago.
Mr. Niederhoefer was born in Germany on July 13, 1843. He came to America in 1870 and spent four months in Indiana. He then came directly to Washington county locating on a farm east of Bluff Lake, now known as Niederhoefer Lake. There he has resided ever since.
He leaves, besides his wife, three daughters and one son. They are Mrs. H. Benjes of Burt county, Mrs. J. H. Popken of Dodge county, Mrs. Ed Luebker of Washington county and Louis Niederhoefer of Cuming county.
Funeral services were held at the Brown Creek Church (now St. Paul's Lutheran Church) north of Arlington on Sunday, Rev. Hallerberg officiating."
