Mrs. Cooper was born in New Orleans and graduated from Newcomb College. She was a member of the Junior League and the Quarante Club in New Orleans. She was the owner and operator of The Book Boat from 1978 to 1994. She was a member of the Pass Christian Historical Society where she served as president and the Fortnightly Book Club. She was a member of the Pass Christian Chamber of Commerce, the Pass Christian Yacht Club and was a member of the Martha Guild at Trinity Episcopal Church. She was a member of the board of Coast Episcopal School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Asahel W. Cooper; and her parents, Rudolf Hecht and Lynne Watkins Hecht.
A service will be at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Episcopal Church in Pass Christian where friends may call one hour before service time. Burial will be at Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian. Riemann Funeral Home, Pass Christian, is in charge of arrangements.
The family prefers memorials to Coast Episcopal School in Pass Christian or the charity of one's choice.
